About Me

"I am an Environmental engineer and a subject matter specialist in geo-spatial technologies.

My research is motivated by what I see as the fragmented and degraded state of the forests across India and rest of the world. I am motivated towards working on better techniques of environmental research, analysis and monitoring towards better policy formulation and development in the country. 

My research interests include climate change, forest ecology, landscape ecology, biodiversity monitoring, applications of remote sensing and GIS, environmental modeling and urban greening"

Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, India

Geo-spatial and Climate change specialist for spatial ecology theme on the DST-funded project on the National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem. I carried out diverse tasks related to landscape analyses such as drivers of landscape change, climate change visualization and model building, species-habitat distribution modeling, connectivity analysis involving least-cost paths. My key research here was on identifying the drivers of landscape change in the Indian Himalayan Region and to study the impacts of climate change on the distribution of selective wildlife species.

Research Associate

Indian Institute Of Science, Bangalore, India

GIS specialist for the Climate change lab at the Center for Sustainable Technologies. My task here was to lend technical support to a plethora of research projects. The primary work was to provide analytical support for the development of a novel methodology for the assessment of the inherent vulnerability of western ghats forest at landscape level under the current and future climate conditions. I also provided GIS inputs for the development of an ecological framework for the greening of New Raipur, the new capital city of Chhattisgarh, India using spatial assessment methods.

My PhD thesis on quantifying the dynamics and drivers of landscape change in a part of coal-mined Central India is an attempt towards understanding the impacts of mining and allied activities on the landscape especially forests.
